As part of our build up toward May Day, join the encuentro5 community for a performance by Mat Callahan & Yvonne Moore. After their appearance here, Mat will open the James Connolly Festival in Dublin in May. Mat is the editor of “Songs of Freedom” (PM Press). It is a celebration of the life and work of James Connolly, the Irish revolutionary socialist martyred by the British for his role in the Easter Rising of 1916. These are the original Songs of Freedom, published in 1907, the Connolly Souvenir program, published in 1919, and the James Connolly Songbook, published in 1972. There are introductory remarks by Connolly's great grandson, James Connolly Heron, a biographical sketch by Theo Dorgan and a note about the making of the current book by Mat Callahan. Books and CDs will be on sale.

Read about Mat Callahan here:

He will be joining us off an Ireland and US tour before going on to the Left Forum. The event will be co-sponsored with PM Press, publishers of Mat's James Connolly Songbook.

$5 suggested donation but no one turned away.
